"The future is a cross-pollination of talent - mixing genre's and exploring what we have in common.
In this process we discover sameness through our differences." -- Ann Marie DeAngelo

Words from the Director
In 2008, my not-for-profit company was revitalized, and has several projects on
the table. The company is a development company, something that is vital to the dance industry in order to continue to produce quality work. Its mission is to develop the public’s understanding of dance through workshops and other forums; to produce and present multi-disciplinary dance events to the general public; and to develop new projects from emerging and established artists and provide a forum for interaction.
Mission and Background
DeAngelo Dance Projects aka Projectdance Inc. was incorporated in January 2002 for charitable purposes, as defined by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the corporation are tax deductible, to the extent allowable by law.
DeAngelo Dance Projects seeks to fulfill needs that further the art of dance.

In the Mix!
IN THE MIX (working title) is a story about dancers from multi-genres who are at the top of their fields, and the trajectory of what happens as each journey to find the next thing. Told through the eyes of one central character. As the inverse of A Chorus Line, the work explores the nature of transition for dancers - those who carry them on, those who move into other fields, and those who can’t stop dancing - to discover that immortality is "passing it on".
IN THE MIX! is an evening of eclectic, high-energy dance, featuring artists at the top of their game from a variety of fields. It is dance for a new age, juxtaposing styles and crossing boundaries. IN THE MIX! mixes it all up: ballet, jazz, tap, cheerleading, rap, social dance, gymnastics, circus arts, martial arts, and live music. Take art and make it entertaining; take athletics and make it art—that’s the heart of its appeal. IN THE MIX! is a fresh, fun, fast-paced 90-minute celebration of movement that exudes energy and pulses with excitement. And beyond that, it aims to educate, exposing audiences to a world of dance from angles never before imagined.
The first incarnation of this show was created and performed in 2001 - and called “The Variety Show - Jugglin' Styles”.
Slide show contains images from the first incarnation and at the Dance Rocks Gala at New York's City Center,
October 2007.

Cynthia Gregory Coaching Project
Essential to the survival of the “art” in dance - as a performing art form, is coaching. The “magic” and memorable performances in theater in many ways, is the result of coaching.
Many gifted artists in the dance world, who possess the wisdom, talent, and ability to guide younger dancers, need to be given the opportunity to pass on their craft - their art, and train future generations.
Cynthia Gregory – former principal ballerina with American Ballet Theater and ballet legend - envisions a coaching academy where she as well as other prominent artists from various dance backgrounds can work to groom and mentor younger talent. |

Dance-Sez:
Dialogues with Dancers on Dance
Being developed with former Pointe Magazine Editor Virginia Johnson, is an educational, yet scripted, performance-based event series. An evening will take the audience on a journey into the life and work of a prominent artist in the field of dance, focus on a particular theme or topic, and provide a unique insight into the dancer’s process from a variety of cross-genre perspectives.
In what we call ‘edutainment’, each show will embrace a wide spectrum of artistic ferment in the dance world, combining live performance, video, and in-depth interviews. Our goal is to make dance more accessible, engage audiences, and further communication. This project is in development and will contribute some of its profit to Career Transition For Dancers. |

Choreography Project
Creating new work is essential to further the art of ballet, as well as other forms of contemporary dance. Although new workshops are springing up across the nation, we need more of them. Works are commissioned at great cost and discourages risk taking, thus stifling the creative process –a process with which our art form is based on. |

Co-producing Ballets
The objective is to seek a co-production with other ballet companies, or non-profit entity. One project includes and existing ballet: The Bell Witch: An American Haunting. This ghost-love story is the most documented supernatural phenomenon in American history, with original music by Conni Ellisor, and features a novel element of 3-D scenic design. We are gathering works to collaborate on with dance companies, or venues. |

Project - "Bringing Performance to Life"
|
Ann Marie conducts this ongoing one-week workshop, which was given at Rancho La Puerta 2007:
MOVE! Get Out of Your Own Way
MOVE! Get Out of Your Own Way, was created for non-dancers to experience the transformational powers of dance and performance. The class teaches three levels of focus that dancers and actors use to perform; principals of ballet technique for mind-centering and body awareness, and easy dance moves that culminate in a simple piece of choreography. Students will receive an insight into the inspirational and motivational forces behind a dancer's process and learn three important success tools for manifesting a goal - concentration, commitment and completion. The process will be fun, inspirational and motivational. There will be warm up stretches to elongate the body and lengthen the muscles at the beginning of the class, and in the end, the experience will be as aerobic as one chooses. Bring a goal to class that you want to achieve!
